Participation in the “Study Tours to Poland” program. Day 1-2

University Rector Olena Karaman, Vice-Rector for Research and Pedagogical Work Yaroslava Yurkiv, foreign language teacher Valeriia Vasyk are participating in the “Study Tours to Poland” Program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. (March 17-23, 2024, Warsaw).

19 people from 6 universities selected by the Fulbright Program in Ukraine on a competitive basis became participants in the Program, including rectors, vice-rectors and persons responsible for the quality of education.

The purpose of the visit to Poland:

  • support of internally displaced Ukrainian universities in the development of content and meaningful preparation of new educational programs: at the master’s level and short forms of education (training, postgraduate education), in areas related to the current problems of Ukrainian society in a state of war – social psychology, psychology of war, psychological rehabilitation and resocialization of veterans, social work and care of servicemen and their families, social policy, urbanism and cultural studies;
  • providing opportunities to Ukrainian higher education institutions that are in a difficult situation to establish cooperation at the level of individual scientists and educational areas, as well as to receive substantive support from Polish higher education institutions in the preparation, implementation of various forms of education, to learn about the modern teaching methods and to receive didactic and mentoring support.

The introduction of new educational programs and short forms of training is an urgent need of Ukrainian society, as there is a great need for qualified specialists who will be able to provide professional assistance in matters of psychological and social assistance, reintegration of servicemen and support of their families.

The first and second days of the visit took place at SWPS University (Higher School of Social Psychology). The participants learned about:

  • the development of educational programs based on European standards;
  • the importance of the European Higher Education Area for the development of educational programs of higher education;
  • the development of training programs and their best practices and typical examples;
  • the best standards and educational programs of SWPS University;
  • the mediator profession – mediation as a professional and educational activity;
  • methods of developing postgraduate education and academic courses, their best practices and typical examples;
  • methods of improving teaching skills (innovations in didactics, development of teaching competencies);
  • methods of ensuring the quality of education (methods of verification of learning results);
  • methods of supporting male and female students in professional and personal development (the process of transition from education to the labor market).

At the end of the working day, the participants of the “STUDY TOURS TO POLAND” Program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation were invited to a gala dinner, which was held in the restaurant of the Chopin Hotel with the participation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland, the Foundation of Rectors of Polish Higher Education Institutions, and representatives of the Embassy.

The day ended with the performance of works by Chopin and Myroslav Skoryk by Ukrainian musicians.

The visit was organized by the “Leaders of Change” Foundation and the Polish Rectors Foundation as part of the “Study Tours to Poland” program of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation.
