Completion of training at a social worker’s school

Master’s student of specialty 231 Social work. Social pedagogy. Practical psychology., Lecturer of the Oriental Philology and Translation Studies Department, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and students of LTSNU Olha Korinska finished School of Social Worker.

The event was organized by the team of the charitable foundation Women’s Aid International and the US Embassy. For 5 days in Kyiv, participants took an intensive course, the curriculum of which was aimed at providing future social workers with deep knowledge to work with vulnerable groups of the population. So, the themes worked out were: Fundamentals of social work; Ethical principles of the social worker; Resolving conflict situations in the process of communication; Building successful communication; Prevention of emotional burnout: how to protect yourself; Stress resistance and others. In total, the training took place for 30 hours, and at the end the participants received certificates of advanced training (1 ECTS credit).

On the last school day, Yana Matviychuk, the founder of the Women’s Aid International charity foundation, visited the group. She talked with the participants of the training programme and coach Natalia Tymoshenko, and spoke about the prospects for further development of the project. Also on a visit to the “School of the Social Worker” was Mrs. Tetiana Podobinska – a representative of the U.S. Embassy Kyiv Ukraine. Mrs. Tetiana talked with the team and participants and took part in the presentation of certificates to the participants of the training!

During the course, all participants became a large and successful team that are ready to use the information and skills in their work. Therefore, the knowledge gained from the ethical foundations of social work, the basics of caring for sedentary and bedridden patients, resolving conflict situations and building successful communication, and especially knowledge with an emphasis on the prevention of emotional burnout and the development of stress resistance among social workers, will be useful to participants both in professional and in everyday life.
