Media literacy training

The Laboratory of Media and Information Literacy of the ER ICA conducted media literacy training for the first-year students of the Institute of Culture and Arts.

On October 5, the training “Media Literacy – a Must Have for a Modern Ukrainian” took place at the ER ICA. The training was conducted by Olena Burim, a teacher of the Department of Cultural Studies and Cinema and Television Arts, who heads the Laboratory of Media and Information Literacy of the ER ICA. The first-year students majoring in “Graphic Design” and “Fine Art, Decorative Art, Restoration” were invited to the event.

The training was held with the support of our partners of the Poltava branch of the Public Service of Ukraine. The participants learned how to stand in the information flow and not spread Russian narratives, the basic rules of security in the digital space. Media literacy is a key mental resource for resilience against enemy information and psychological special operations (IPSO).

The event takes place within the framework of the Meet and Code initiative, which is funded by Amazon and SAP and implemented by Haus des Stiftens gGmbH and TechSoup Europe together with its partner in Ukraine, the GURT Resource Center.

We also thank you for the provided location – the space “Humanitarian Aid Center” of the NGO “Common Cause of Poltava Region”.
