The Faculty of Foreign Languages held Days of Japanese Language and Culture dedicated to the celebration of Culture Day in Japan.
Day 1. Japanese language Day
As part of the Days of Japanese Language and Culture at the Department of Oriental Languages of Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University, on November 9, a Japanese language lesson was held with a native Japanese speaker, Mr. Takashi Itozawa, which was attended by students and teachers of the educational program “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)”. The lesson was held in the format of a conversational workshop. Mr. Takashi presented his own photos, talked about the features of the Japanese kimono, and shared his memories of life in pre-war Ukrainian Luhansk. Students willingly participated in the discussion and asked questions in Japanese.
Day 2. Japanese Art Day
On November 11, there was a meeting with the young Japanese artist Hideyuki Takenaki. Mr. Hideyuki told the participants about his life and work, presented his favorite works and outlined his painting technique. The meeting ended with a lively discussion, everyone was able to ask questions, to which Mr. Hideyuki provided answers.
Day 3. Modern Japanese culture Day
On November 13, the Department of Oriental Languages held an open lecture “The first group of female mangakas “Year 24 Group ” (24年組) by O. Borzova, a teacher of the Japanese language. Ms. Oleksandra prepared information and a presentation about the prerequisites for the Year 24 Group, the role of shojo manga and its most prominent representatives. The women of “Year 24 Group ” were the first to raise issues relevant to teenage girls and pay attention to the psychological component of the history of the shojo genre. The lecture was held in a friendly atmosphere and lively discussion of the heritage of female mangakas of the “Year 24 Group”.
Day 4. Japanese Writing Day: Japanese calligraphy
On November 15, associate professor of the Department of Oriental Languages, candidate of philological sciences Y. Malakhova organized a master class on Japanese calligraphy, to which all students of the Department of Oriental Languages were invited, as well as all those who are interested in the Japanese language and culture, including schoolchildren.
Ms. Yulia spoke about the peculiarities of Japanese characters and their writing, showed traditional Japanese calligraphy equipment. During the meeting, all participants practiced writing hieroglyphs and happily shared photos of their works of art.
Day 5. Japanese Literature Day
On November, 17 professor of the Department of Oriental Languages, doctor of philological sciences Yugan N. invited students of the educational program “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)”, as well as everyone else, to a master class on writing Japanese poems. Mrs. Natalia prepared a presentation about the special genre of Japanese poetry 俳句 (haiku), outlined the main characteristic features of poems and provided advice on writing their own poetic works. The meeting took place in a positive atmosphere, all participants tried to compose their own poems and willingly read them in Ukrainian and Japanese.
