Students and teachers Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University were invited to the event. Active participants in the meeting were students of various specialties of one of the largest structural university subdivisions Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, as well as Starobil Professional College”, Professional College of LTSNU, and local residents of the city.
The purpose of this event: to show what the city was like more than a hundred years ago and how it has changed during this period; report on famous photographers of Lubny city.
The event was opened by Natalia Shostak, who spoke about the history of the city of Lubny. She noted that Lubny owes its foundation to Prince Volodymyr Svyatoslavovych of Kyiv, who in 988 ordered the construction of fortress cities on the southern borders of Kyivan Rus. In 988, the city of Lubny appeared on the historical map. It became the center of the Lubny Cossack Regiment, one of the largest in Ukraine.
This year, the city celebrates 1035 years since its founding. Writers call Lubny the city of love. It has always been and is the center of cultural and educational life.
Thanks to an interesting excursion into the past, viewing old photos, a story about the first Lubny photographers and modern photographs, the guests learned a lot of interesting things about the thousand-year-old Lubny, which will celebrate its birthday in a few days.
The winners began their journey through time with an exhibition of old photos and old cameras, prepared by collector Serhii Kravetskyi.
The local historian Serhii Shvetsov said that 12 photographers worked in Lubny in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and the first photo studio was founded (1888).
The scientific employee of the Lubny Museum of Local Lore Tetiana Safronova told about Lubny photographer Oleksii Zavodskyi, who reflected the culture and daily life of Lubny residents in his works.
The methodist of DUKSOT “Valtex” Mykola Polonskyi introduced the audience to photographers whose works were printed on postcards.
Vadym Khomenko, a member of the Sofit photo club and a mobile phone photo enthusiast, shared some wonderful photos, including “wet photos” and photos from a quadcopter, which he donated to the Armed Forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
At the end of the event, students of LTSNU had the opportunity to act as photographers and visitors to the photo studio.
The participants of the event are proud to live and study in the oldest known city in the Poltava region.
