The psychologist’s work in the sensory room continues

The psychologist Anton Nazmiiev of SOS “Children’s Village” continues his work with displaced children in the sensory room of LTSNU, the city of Lubny.

This space is equipped with the support of the international charitable organization SOS “Children’s Village” (sos-ukraine.org).

Every week, group meetings with teenagers are traditionally held in the safe space of the sensory room, which always welcomes children, each of whom receives attention and a portion of good mood from specialists. The location has become a place for free play, development and work with specialists, in which services are provided to teenagers and migrant children living in the territory of the community.

A sensory room is a specially organized environment for psycho-emotional relief, which is equipped to stimulate various systems of perception: tactile, auditory, visual, and vestibular.

It should be noted that many children are not used to telling adults about their feelings, and there may be various reasons for this. Many children may lack experience in talking about themselves and simply do not know the words to describe how and what they feel. It is usually difficult for migrant children who have experienced severe ordeals to talk about them. They are afraid that some feelings will be stronger than them. Children who have felt hostility very acutely may be suspicious, they may not want to communicate because they are afraid that they will be scolded for it. In this case, you should very tactfully invite children to the dialogue. Involvement in dialogue and an active life will make it possible to adapt and find friends more quickly.

Children feel better when they see adults creating an environment where there is respect and morality. If a psychologist shows respect for children and consistency in his relations with them, then he proves that he can be trusted. This is very important, because otherwise children will not develop positive feelings towards their environment and their future. Sometimes you can help just by listening to the child – and it works.

Therefore, you should always maintain faith in the child that any situation will be resolved for the best.

Thank you all for your cooperation. Together we make this world better!
