On November 14-17, 2022, the head of the EU Project “Intensification of Influence of Teachers of Luhansk Region on the Processes of Reconciliation and Peace-Building” Vitalii Kurylo visited Poland as part of delegation of the Union of Rectors of Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions.
The purpose of the visit was to participate in the Polish-Ukrainian Rector’s Seminar. The delegation was headed by Petro Kulikov, Head of the Union of Rectors of Ukraine, Rector of Kyiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
The representative of Luhansk National University was Vitalii Kurylo, the first vice-rector, head of the Academic Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
On the first day, the delegation of the Union of Rectors visited Maria Curie-Skladowska University. The main topics of communication with the Rector prof. Radoslav Dobrovolskyi and the vice-chancellors of the university were plans for future cooperation in the current difficult conditions and assistance to Ukrainian refugees and students. Polish colleagues also expressed their desire to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war.
The second day of the visit was held at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. The event was dedicated to summarizing the results of the project “Polish-Ukrainian cooperation of representative organizations of rectors – to improve the activities of higher education institutions” in 2022 and the signing of the Joint Resolution, which includes recommendations for the ministers of education and science and rectors of higher education institutions of both countries.
During the speeches of the members of the Ukrainian delegation, words of gratitude to their Polish colleagues and the entire Polish people as a whole for their active assistance during the war with the Russian invaders were repeatedly heard.
